Rachel Williams is a Bay Area native with more than 20 years of experience in Silicon Valley. Rachel is currently the Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at The Motley Fool, a financial services firm. Previously, Rachel was Head of Equity Inclusion & Diversity at Google X, an innovation arm of Alphabet, she was focused on ensuring that equity, inclusion and diversity is at the foundation of the multi-billion dollar companies and products being built. Prior to X, Rachel held global roles at StubHub and Yelp. In her spare time, she serves as a Senior Advisor to Zeal Capital, Norwest Venture Partners and Burst Capital.

Previous Efforts to Advance DEIB

The underrepresentation of women and many communities of color in tech came to the forefront in 2014, but efforts to diversify the workforce date back to the 1960s. This module highlights efforts to diversify the workforce through initiatives ranging from the federal government, civil rights organizations, and individuals working in and outside of the tech industry.
